New James Bond Announced |
|
The hunt for the new 007 is over. Daniel Craig, star of Brit gangster flick 'Layer Cake', has landed the plum role becoming the sixth actor to play legendary Commander James Bond of the British Secret Service. Craig, 37, the first blond Bond, is little known in the United States, but is more familiar with British audiences. In addition to 'Layer Cake', he also played alongside Paul Newman and Tom Hanks in 'Road To Perdition' and was poet Ted Hughes opposite Gwyneth Paltrow's Sylvia Plath in the movie 'Sylvia'. ![]() DANIEL CRAIG'S CV "Obviously we are thrilled to bits," Craig's mother Carol told the Liverpool Daily Post newspaper. Daniel Craig's first film will be 'Casino Royale'; shooting will commence in 2006. Pierce Brosnan Bows Out With a new 007 meeting the world's press, it seems appropriate to pay tribute to the outgoing one. Pierce Brosnan became the new James Bond in 1995 and provided a much-needed boost for the ailing series; his first movie 'Goldeneye' was a global smash. His second outing was 1997's 'Tomorrow Never Dies' and in 1999's 'The World Is Not Enough', Pierce starred opposite a truly terrible Denise Richards. The Irish actor donned 007's tux for the last time in 2002's 'Die Another Day' starring Halle Berry. Pierce Brosnan can walk away with pride knowing that he revived a dying franchise for a new generation. Always a great moment in the 007 films, see Pierce Brosnan's Bond get issued with some great gadgets by Q (played by John Cleese) in this clip from 'Die Another Day'.
