Sorry, It's Not Gonna Cost You... |

It's a mechanic's nightmare come true - a car that services itself. One of the world's first electric sports cars is to be fitted with wireless internet facilities, allowing its engine to be monitored, fine-tuned and updated without a specialist. The intel WiFi technology means the Venturi Fetish will not even need to be plugged in. And with an iPod as standard, users can download their favourite tracks while the virtual mechanic is under the bonnet. The Fetish can go from 0 to 60mph (96km/h) in 4.5 secs, outperforming many supercars as well as that traditional electric vehicle, the milk float. It also has a top speed of 105mph (168km/h) and a range of about 240 miles (390km). ![]() The equivalent of 300 horsepower is delivered by 7,200 lithium-ion batteries. They weigh 350kgs but this is offset by an extremely light carbon-fibre body, giving it a total weight of 1,100kg. Gildo Pastor, owner of Monaco-based Venturi, said: 'For 100 years, people have been producing very good electric motors but until now we did not know how to manage so much electrical power in a vehicle this light.' With only 25 Fetish cars being made, it is one of the most exclusive vehicles in history. Another snag is the ?370,000 price tag. But its green credentials mean it avoids London's ?8 congestion charge and costs only ?1.60 to 'fill up'. The car was unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show. |
